And now I shall upload the PPC Fanmix! I gave out hard copies at the Gathering, but it should be available to everyone. It's just taken me a while to HTML-code it all up. It's a very long list, but I wanted to get everyone's suggestions in and include a few of my own. I'm suitably ashamed about the Daphne and Celeste one because I KNOW they were the early nineties' answer to Hannah Montana, but I thought the song was funny.

I should warn everyone that some of the songs contain strong language; "City", "Fire Water Burn", and "The Tain" are the worst offenders. "Odalisque" doesn't have bad language as such, but you still shouldn't let any children listen to it. (Look at the lyrics here and see exactly why. Consider it R-rated.)

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions! Enjoy.
And here it is. )

Some of you guys probably already know me from the boards, most likely for the RP blunder, but I figured I'd post my agents here to get some feedback before I request permission. If anyone would like to collaborate, I'm definately down for that too.

You can call me Chase; I have created two agents named Chase Kilger and Akemi, who will hopefully be located in the Department of Floaters.

Hello, just joined the comm. I'm going to join the PPC as well (well not until a while) with a new team of three agents (guess trios haven't been around for a while). Full profiles soon to be posted to my InsaneJournal (my LJ is being used for other purposes).
My fandom interests : Star Wars (especially when Vader is involved), Star Trek, Stargate Atlantis, Watchmen, House MD, Numb3rs, several fantasy series and RPF about U2. I have favorite chars in almost all of them.
My PPCing interests : dealing with Mary Sues, protecting canon characters from abuse, rescuing them from abusive situations (like hurt/comfort) and OOCness. I think my agents would work in the Department of Floaters, in the freelance division.

I've created a chargelist for the Battlestar Galactica (2003) fandom, in anticipation of my Agents' upcoming missions. It can be found here at my LJ.

PPC Prologue/writing sample ) Sorry about that, everyone. My LJ-Fu is weak. Hopefully this'll work.

While autumn cleaning my LJ, I realised that I'm still maintainer of this community. This is the first time in years I've been here, and while it's good to see the ppc still going strong, I'd really like it if someone who's more involved wants to take over maintaining the place. It can take as much or as little time as you like.

Wow...

It has been many a year since I last heard of the PPC. I don't even remember how long ago it was, honestly, but a long time indeed. Last time I checked it was really just Jay and Acacia, along with a few other brave souls. I made cause with them, but honestly I couldn't get through enough bad fanfics to actually write anything. As time went by I became distracted, and wandered away from this corner of the internet. I figured this little adventure would have eventually played it self out, leaving behind, at best, a decaying, obsolete website.

So, imagine my surprise while wandering the awesomness that is TVTropes in finding that the PCC was still around. You guys have done damn well for yourselves, and have carved out your own niche in cyberspace. In fact, from what I've seen, you're better organized and growing faster then most of the online communities I'm part of, not to mention the Real World ones. You guys should be proud of yourselves.

Anyway, enough ramblings from an old-timer (well, relatively speaking). In more relevent news, have you guys had a chance to take a stab at the new contender for the title of "World's Worst Fanfic" AKA "My Immortal?" (No, really. Google "worst fanfic" and it's the first hit). If not, it definitely needs it. Worst Sue I've ever seen, and quite possible one of the more disturbing things on the internet, and believe me, I've seen a lot.

Happy hunting!

In case any of you haven't noticed, the spambot has returned for the third time. *sigh*

It couldn't even bother being creative; same message, and thus more ypur are raining into HQ. Grab a helmet.

The non-spammed message board is here.

Grrr.....  Looks like it turned up about ten minutes ago. Thankfully the new PPC Message Board is safe...

Un-spammed board, for anyone who didn't already have the link:

EDIT: No longer a threat. Emergency measures cancelled, alarms shut down, all mongeeses restored to habitats.

(See this post for details if you somehow missed them)

Option One: Wait Them Out

It'd be really nice if it went away and left us alone, wouldn't it? But it's had a couple of breaks so far without actually stopping.

Option Two: Run Away

To which end I present this:

The PPC Message Board

As opposed to the PPC Posting Board currently under invasion. I've done my best to get a match for the design of the real one, but if this goes on, I'll need to ask someone with some actual ability with this sort of thing to fix the last few problems. Still, it beats not being able to talk, right? And it has the advantage that password-holders can block IPs on request, and are still present.

It's eight hours on, and it's still going strong. There really doesn't seem to have been any change except the content of the posts.

We may need a temporary new Board if it keeps up. I have notified a few Permission Givers, and hS has offered to set us up with a new Board if necessary.

Sorry if someone replied to the last one, but I can't find it again due to all the spam. It's on AFF, in case you're accessing it from work/a public place.

Bwuh? What? asdfghjkl? Do I need to describe how OOC these two characters are?

So...a bunch of different people based off of random series get together and try to save to world...it's interesting to say the least. Leven Thumps, Percy Jackson, Keys to the Kingdom, and Dragons in our Midst are featured. Another RPG-turned-fanfic.

We had established that Artic Blade, Tomato and Lily Winterwood were going to help me when those scrap heaps started attacking the Board.

A Spam bot has pretty much attacked the Board.

Techo-Dann has already tracked down the IP and the company, and has emailed regarding this malicious attack.

Right now, everything has been pushed past the first six pages, probably eight by the time I post this.

The only thing we can do right now is to wait the spam attack out, and hope it is eventually stopped by the service provider that it is based off of.

Just remember, spam is edible, and we have sporks, so hold tight.

Just for reference, here's the E-mail I sent.

To: Abuse@CirtexHosting.com (the web host of the server spamming the board)
subject: DOS attack on forum - 208.53.158.38 (itchy.cirtexhosting.com)

Good evening,

A system at 208.53.158.38 is running a script to deny service to a web forum I use, which can be found here:

http://disc.yourwebapps.com/Indices/199610.html

I ran a reverse DNS on the IP address (which can be found at the bottom of the top block of every post) and came up with the domain itchy.cirtexhosting.com, which I believe belongs to you.

Your TOS clearly declares "malicious scripts" to be illegal, and I think this definitely qualifies.

Thank you for your consideration,

Daniel Hermanson
Techno.Dann@gmail.com

Feel free to use this as a template, but at least change the name and E-mail address at the bottom.
